During her visit, Sarah toured the pyrolysis site and learned how local garden waste is transformed into biochar. This process permanently removes carbon from the atmosphere while supporting skilled green jobs in the local area.

Our on-site team walked her through the full end-to-end process and explained how PureBiochar underpins A Healthier Earth’s wider biochar platform. Once fully operational, the site will produce around 11,500 tonnes of biochar each year, delivering up to 18,500 tonnes of permanent carbon removal, all to consistent, industrial-grade safety and quality standards.

Biochar is one of the most credible carbon removal solutions available today. It is permanent, measurable and ready to deploy. However, much of the market remains small scale and fragmented. Facilities like PureBiochar, backed by investment from our parent company, Pure Data Centres, demonstrate what high-integrity carbon removal looks like when it is built for scale and designed to meet the needs of institutional buyers.

Sarah Gibson MP, a member of the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, welcomed the addition of Pure Data Centres to her constituency. She said:

“I am excited to see this joined up thinking in our area. Wiltshire residents garden waste becoming part of the carbon removal process rather than going into landfill is a huge step.

Pure Data Centre’s Biochar Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett is not only at the forefront of green innovation in the UK, working towards a net-zero future, but is also a valuable investment in the local economy in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Biochar is a fascinating substance of natural origins, which both fights climate change and acts as a natural fertiliser.
During my tour of Pure Data Centres, I was able to see how Biochar is made firsthand. It was a great insight into the future of green innovation here in the UK and I am thrilled to have such a groundbreaking facility within the constituency.”
